AR Glasses Google and Apple Designs

AR Glasses – Apple vs Google, Which Will Be Better?

Posted on September 20, 2022September 8, 2022 by Steve Hinson

Augmented reality (AR) is the next technology of the future, and Google and Apple are some of the frontrunners for AR Glasses. Of the two, Apple is ahead regarding certain areas like patents, privacy, and even the launch timing. Further, we will explain what AR is and the way it is expected to progress in the future.

AR glasses are see-through transparent lenses with a digital overlay that can project a tiny screen functioning as a smartphone. They function as wearable computers in the form of eyeglasses. Users will browse the internet, maps, or any other apps by use of voice commands.

AR Glasses Potential Features

Google is trying to improve its AR glasses prototype with new features like transcription and language processing by providing subtitles. By wearing these glasses, any language within Google’s database that is spoken will be translated for the wearer. These new Google glasses are stylish as well and have no sign of being technological. Even taking a close look, you will not be able to tell that they are advanced AR glasses.

On the other hand, Apple is trying to launch a mixed reality headset combining both AR and Virtual Reality (VR) with an M2 chipset. It is rumored that this feature could be added in the latest iPhone with Wi-Fi 6E and is expected to change the AR experience. The MR (Mixed Reality) headset may have a feature that helps in switching between VR and AR smoothly.

How They Work

Similar to all the AR glasses, Apple may have one or two tiny projectors that would help in casting an image onto the lenses. If two projectors are employed then 3D effects can be easily featured on the lenses by certain apps. Other features like iPhone notifications, map directions, message display, etc. may be included. With all these features, Apple AR glasses may be little expensive compared to Google glasses.

With all said and done, both tech giants are in the competition of offering the best and most exciting technology which is under testing and trials.
